We
provide endless opportunities for nurses to practice nursing in
ways that enhance professional growth and optimize patient care.
Nurses may expand their impact beyond their assigned patients of
the day by engaging in other aspects of nursing practice.
Independent practice taps into the nurse’s autonomy while
focusing on patient outcomes and nursing practice. While working
independently, nurses have full system resources at their
behest.
Intradependent practice taps into
the gratification obtained while utilizing Benner’s model for
nurse – nurse collaboration and teaching between novice,
advanced beginner, competent, proficient and expert nurses. For
the expert nurse who enjoys teaching new nurses or students or
for similarly competent nurses who enjoy the mental stimulation
that arises from discussions with other nurses, these
opportunities occur frequently.
